It is unavoidable, Fall is coming and we like to enjoy the outdoors as long as possible.
As Fall is drawing near. Outsite living enthousiasts like us like to extent their season.
And when winter is over and the first signs of spring are there we want to enjoy our patio again
Patio Heaters are a solution, and the type we discuss here are actually my favorite.
Ceiling patio heaters make a good alternative to portable patio heaters. Because they are permanently installed, none of the storage or maintenance problems associated with portable heaters are encountered. Simply turn the switch and the ceiling heater provides enough heat to keep you and your guests comfortable.
Ceiling heaters can be powered by either electricity or gas. If you use natural gas for heating your house, it’s a natural extension to install natural gas ceiling heaters on your patio. However, if you don’t have a natural gas feed, you can still install electric or propane ceiling heaters.
Many models of ceiling heaters for your patio operate with radiant heat. This efficient heating method heats objects and people without heating the air in between. This increases their deficiency and also means that the heaters are effective even on windy days.

So You Want To Play Bass Guitar?
by: Carlie Marriott
The bass guitar is both the pivot and the drive of many
pop, rock and jazz groups. Most times the bass is what
holds it all together, but then sometimes it just emerges
from the mix and seems to pulse through your whole body.
The bass is one of the most emotive instruments around.
While the bass is versatile, the instrument tends to
take a backseat in a group. Few group leaders play the
bass. Take Paul McCartney, who’s a bassist predominantly.
Also, Thin Lizzy’s Phil Lynott covered bass duties and
Level 42’s Mark King is the singer and bassist. However,
these examples defy the rule. The role of the bass
guitar in a band in comparison to a regular guitar is
very different since most bass guitars are never heard
solo, except for a few short breaks or in jazz
arrangements. One reason why bass guitar solos are rare
is that most folk singer voices rarely blend will with
just the bass sound.

One way to confirm that cyberspace is the great equalizer is to observe the quality of editing that exists …
I am truly amazed at the mangling endured by the English language on a significant number of sites. It’s fair to assume that this malady has its roots in short attention spans during the school years. As a result, accuracy is often the first victim of poor spelling and grammar.
Still, if we’re going to cite examples of this averral, let’s do it with a touch of humor. Here are some responses by younger students from a secular school when asked to expound on various teachings of the Bible. Their words are unedited:
“In the first book of the Bible, Guinessis, God got tired of creating the world, so he took the Sabbath off.”
“Adam and Eve were created from an apple tree.”
“Noah’s wife was called Joan of Ark.”
“Noah built an ark, which the animals come on to in pears.”
“Lot’s wife was a pillar of salt by day, but a ball of fire by night.”
No commentsMorgana, the Claustrophobic Kitty
by: Mary Arnold
For over ten years, my family and I have had several cats sharing our home with us. Our first kittens, Tiger and White Sox, came to us from a friend whose own two cats had produced a litter simultaneously and she was in desperate need to find good homes for them. Next to arrive was Bonnie, whom I brought home after seeing some young kids tormenting her. Then Brat Cat joined us; her mother was a stray who decided our backyard was a good birthing place.
And then there was Morgana. She was rescued from the Animal Shelter when she was still quite young.
By the time Morgana moved in, a little over a year ago, my husband and I thought ourselves “old hands” regarding litter box training. With all our previous felines, we’d had little or no trouble adjusting them to the litter box. At that time, White Sox and Brat Cat were the only two living in the house. Bonnie had passed on and Tiger refused to be a house cat, preferring to live outdoors.
Morgana was a challenge.
No commentsNile Monitor Lizard Information
by: Lizard Lounge
Appearance
The Nile Monitor lizard is one of the largest within the Monitor class of lizards. They can typically reach up to 7 feet in length. They are brown in color ranging from light to dark brown.
Enclosure
As for an enclosure a full room is typically suggested. This is due to several factors including their desire to climb. Furthermore, the Nile Monitors like to swim so a decent sized pond should be provided for them. Some sort of a hiding area should also be provided for them, as well as good sturdy branches for climbing. Due to the large height required for the Monitors a heater below the enclosure is recommended for good surface heat. For light, unfiltered sunlight is the absolute best, however UV radiation lights offering a full spectrum of rays can be used in place of sunlight as is the same for most lizards.
Food
The Nile Monitors will eat any type of rodent that they are able to swallow. In the wild these lizards will also frequently eat fish as they are typically close to a water source. Having the capability to dive for up to one hour at a time and being very agile in the water contribute to the fish consumption. In addition, some Nile Monitors may like to be fed cooked eggs.
No commentsNew Year’s Resolutions for Writers
by: Amber McNaught
Whether you’re an experienced writer looking to boost your career or a complete novice desperate to break into the world of freelance writing, there’s a good chance that you’ll be using the New Year as the excuse you need to start a whole new writing regime.
New year is a good time for freelance writers. It’s a time of chance, when staff writers start looking for new jobs (leaving editors desperate for freelance contributions), and editors start thinking about new directions for their publications (and hence need new freelance writers to help them out).
If you’re determined to make this year the year that your writing career really takes off, here are some of the resolutions you should be making.
1. I will write every day
Freelance writing is a job, just like any other, and that means you have to do it every day (weekends and holidays excepted). Make writing a habit by sitting down at your keyboard at the same time every day, and don’t allow yourself to leave until you’ve got some words down on paper. Start taking your writing seriously, and other people will take it seriously too.
No commentsMore so than any other music since the blues, hip-hop is all about stories. And its stories are both criminal minded and grand, making them enthralling and unbelievable, but also making them only as interesting and convincing as the teller. That’s why, despite being blackballed by the industry, without a major-label recording contract, heads still gravitated to Jamaica, Queens’ realest son, 50 Cent, like the planets to the sun. 50 Cent, born Curtis Jackson 26 years ago, is the real deal, the genuine article. He’s a man of the streets, intimately familiar with its codes and its violence, but still, 50, an incredibly intelligent and deliberate man, holds himself with a regal air as if above the pettiness which surrounds him. Born into a notorious Queens drug dynasty during the late ’70s, 50 Cent lost those closest to him at an early age. Raised without a father, 50’s mother, whose name carried weight in the street (hint, hint, dummies), was found dead under mysterious circumstances before he could hit his teens. The orphaned youth was taken in by his grandparents, who provided for 50. But his desire for things would drive him to the block.
No commentsWhen 13-year-old Bill Lefakinis first visited the famed yacht Christina O in 1959 on the Hudson River in New York City, little did he realize that a 45 year old bond was about to start with the legendary vessel.
Lefakinis, chairman of Valef Yachts, had an opportunity to visit the now-famous Aristotle Onassis yacht due to a family invitation extended to Spyros Skouras, by the owner. Skouras, chairman of 20th Century Fox, was invited to the yacht, with Winston Churchill and Maria Callas in attendance. This was heady stuff for a young lad, but it also instilled in Lefakinis a love of yachts in general and yachting in particular.
As a result, the Lefakinis love of yachting has led to his stewardship of a yacht chartering business, Valef Yachts.
He fondly relates how Valef Yachts and the Christina O share a joint tradition and history that is remarkable. The "M/Y Christina O" story actually originated in 1943 in Canada. Back then, the ship was known as the frigate Stormont, a convoy escort. Aristotle Onassis bought it in 1954, turning the frigate into the history’s most famous yacht. The Onassis concept for “Christina O” was to convert the vessel into a powerful symbol of his business empire with unique and total elegance.
No commentsYou’ve put a lot of work into your garden, from planning to digging to weeding to all the little tasks that keep it looking beautiful. Sharing your garden with others is the next step, and doing that requires more than pretty rows of plants. You created a garden to enjoy, didn’t you? Imagine your garden in use - garden benches and patio furniture to provide places for people to sit and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Choosing garden furniture can be the ultimate expression of your pride in the garden you’ve grown.
When choosing garden furniture, you should take into account the kind of use that your garden will get. Is your garden meant to be a relaxing haven for just you? A place where you’ll read and sip iced tea, away from the bustle of the modern, busy world? In that case, what better piece of garden ‘furniture’ is there than a classic hammock, slung between trees or on its own stand? And of course, if you put up a garden hammock, you’ll need a small garden table close to hand to hold your iced tea and book when you pull your hat down over your eyes to snooze in the sun.
No commentsPhoto Ideas To Make Your Scrapbook A Work Of Art
by: Vera Raposo
Photos bring your scrapbook to life. The placement and type of photos
you choose will make the difference between an ordinary scrapbook and a
scrapbook that truly tells a story.
You can place your pictures individually or as a collage, and create colorful borders through the use of ribbons, beads, captions, and artwork. The possibilities are endless when deciding how to place your pictures in your scrapbook and what items you should use to make decorative borders.
Deciding which photos to use in your scrapbook can be a difficult task. Here are a few tips on taking pictures that make great scrapbook additions:
Take candid photos of people doing everyday things such as playing a
game, participating in sports, or relaxing in a favorite chair. Make
sure you get pictures of people interacting with others.
This is one of the best ways to fully capture a person’s personality and facial
expressions. Your subjects do not need to be looking directly at the camera.
