The Hidden Use of Reciprocity as a Powerful Persuasion Technique

The Hidden Use of Reciprocity as a Powerful Persuasion Technique
 by: Preston Campbell

How would you like a quick and easy Persuasion Technique to get just about anyone to feel they “owe” you? Imagine what a persuasion technique this would mean for a sales call, a sales letter (yes you can do in it writing too), a negotiation, business discussions, or a situation where you are trying to get someone to do something.

There is a simple way you can create this sense of obligation in someone. You do it by using the principle of reciprocity. That is, when you give something to someone, that person will almost always feel obligated to give you something back. The sense of reciprocity is so strong that in research studies where one person treated people nicely and the other person treated the same people poorly but gave them something (lets say offered them a soda), these people were more likely to do something for the person who treated them poorly. Reciprocity is one of the most powerful persuasion techniques that you can employ.

Now if you are familiar with reciprocity don’t stop reading yet, because I have a little different twist on this whole concept to share with you in few moments.

Make Use of the Signature Line in Your Email

Think about it, how many emails do you send out every day? How many of these forwarded jokes, pictures, stories etc do you receive every week?

Why not put your email to work for you?! Add a link or two to your signature file. Mine looks something like this:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Susanne
I am a Work at Home Mom Wannabe
http://www.wahmwannabe.com
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You get the idea. You can start as simple or as fancy as you’d like. You do want to get your readers attention though. Make a statement, ask a question. If you’d like, offer something free. A free coupon if they place their first order etc.

You may also want to change your signature around a little from time to time, particularly if you email the same people a lot. Never miss an opportunity to display your links though. You never know when someone’s situation or circumstances change and all of a sudden, they may be interested in what you have to offer, be it a product or a business opportunity.

20 Major Marketing Mistakes - No 1. Failing To Understand The Nature Of Internet Marketing

20 Major Marketing Mistakes - No 1. Failing To Understand The Nature Of Internet Marketing
 by: Donald Saunders

A surprisingly high number of people who are new to the world of online marketing believe that it is a simple art. If only this were true!

I’m not saying that they believe that all they need to do is find themselves a product, build a website, plug-in an order system, place an advertisement or two and then wait for the money to roll in, but many people simply fail to appreciate the significance of the use of the word Marketing in the phrase “Online Marketing”.

A quick look at the index of any online marketing course will an indication of just what is involved in setting up your own internet business with such headings as, “Building a website”, “hooking-up your order pages”, “Setting-up a newsletter”, “Winning the search engine war” and a great deal more. Now, each of these elements is important in its own right, but together, they simply create the framework necessary to allow you to start marketing your products or services.

Raised Letter or Full Color Business Cards?

Raised Letter or Full Color Business Cards?
 by: Florie Lyn Masarate

Raised Letter and Full Color. These are the Big Two to consider when you are searching around for business cards that will best represent the image you want to portray for your business.

The difference between Raised Letter and Full Color printing is in how the ink is applied to the card stock.

Thermography is the type of printing that produces ink that stands up off the page slightly. When you run your fingers across the surface, you can feel the printing on the stock.

Each color that is printed has a separate plate, and the cards have to be run through the press for each color chosen. These types of cards have a very elegant and refined look about them, especially if the colors and stocks chosen are complimentary. There are hundreds of varieties of stocks and inks to choose from.

Full Color printing is much like printing from your ink jet printer at home. All the inks are printed on the page at the same time, combined to create hues, shades and photo images.

Avoid Marketing Stagnation Using 3 Basic Methods

You joined an online marketing program, placed some ads, and then thought, now what? The majority of new marketers pause at this point, and many never come back.

Some years ago, I attended a "bump school" ski lesson in Breckenridge, Colorado. My instructor emphasized keeping the weight down hill on the skis, leaning forward. He said if you fall, better to fall forward, not backward or sideways, but FORWARD. The forward weight, and even the forward fall, indicates advancement. With the earnest determination needed to ski bump runs, stay forward, stay alive in your marketing efforts! Will your business stagnate at this critical time? No! Now commit to sustained focus in your marketing education. Commit to sustained action that becomes second nature. Lock your ON switch in place! Often finding myself in this dynamic, my web business excites me, seeming more like play.

What simple, powerful tools can you use to maintain the forward dynamic?

Keyword Selection For Website Marketing

Keyword Selection For Website Marketing
 by: Lee Rummage

Keyword selection is the first step for writing meta tags or the text of your website. If you don’t select your keywords wisely and carefully, you would not be able to attract the desired traffic to your website.

Simply having meta tags in your website does not guarantee more website visitors or high rankings in the search engines. You need to base these meta tags on carefully selected and targeted keywords. Here are a few guidelines to help you in selecting good and appropriate keywords.

1. Descriptive Keywords

The first rule is very simple. The keyword should describe the product or service you are offering. Don’t make the mistake of making your company name a keyword. It might be related to your service, but people would hardly search for it (unless you are a big and famous company). For example, I won’t put the words “BizTalk4U Consulting” in the meta tags of my website. Instead, I would use “web content writers”, which describes the services I offer.

Basic Brochure Design In Two
 by: Florie Lyn Masarate

You may already know some of the many different tips and techniques on designing your brochures. Based from what you have learned and followed, you might be thinking that you have the perfect type of brochure for your business.

But do you know the characteristics that your brochures have?

These characteristics are the factors that make up these cards even before you put all the styles and techniques you chose. It is best to know them before deciding on the appearance itself.

What are the two characteristics of a good brochure?

Brochure type number 1:

This brochure is designed to attract attention. It plays on the emotions of the customer. When they see it in a display rack they must pick it up and see what it says. It has an attention getting headline.

It is designed to spend all its time, on public display, exposed to as much of your target market as possible. It will contain lots of white space and short thoughts rather than long paragraphs.
